Three biomedical investigations from work groups belonging to professionals who provide services in the County-Campiña and Huelva-Costa Districts, as well as at the University of Huelva, have obtained funding to develop their work through the call for aid from the Public Andalusian Progress and Health Foundation for the development of biomedical research projects and Health Sciences.
These projects are integrated into the set of biomedical research that is being developed in different health and research centers throughout Andalusia and will have funding, thanks to the constitution of a general allocation of about 2.5 million euros from public funds and also from private funds of health and non-health entities, the Board has reported in a note.
All this, the result of different collaboration agreements with companies for the development of the research activity in health in order to try to solve or alleviate the health problems that affect the citizenship.
In this sense, the research areas promoted from Huelva, which have obtained funding within this line of action and which have been managed by the Fabis Foundation, have focused on the development of procedures to improve the analysis of biological samples, the analysis of the intervention in patients with dual pathology, as well as in the study of those strategies that favor adherence to treatment and therapeutic compliance in certain pathologies through a mobile application.
In this sense, for the allocation of these resources, those who have been able to choose 74 Andalusian research projects have used a competitive public resource allocation process, the result of a peer evaluation carried out by professional experts, who have determined the suitability of the selected projects.
Thus, research projects from all the Andalusian provinces have been funded by the research management foundations in which professionals from public hospitals and universities participate, as well as from primary care districts.
Thematic of the projects
Regarding the theme of the selected projects, oncology, research in neurodegenerative and infectious diseases and diabetes are some of the lines of work that have obtained funding to carry out their work. As stated in the rules of the call, which was closed in December 2014, no research group will receive more than 40,000 euros.
The publication of the results of this call is linked to the recent publication of the results of a specific call for primary care that, also managed by the Public Foundation Andalusia Progress and Health, aims to promote research and innovation in the field of Primary Care, with special emphasis on emerging research groups and cooperative and multidisciplinary research.
The candidatures for this call, open all year, are presented exclusively via telematics through the application ‘Call Management’ (www.juntadeandalucia.es/fundacionprogresoysalud/gestionconvocatorias) where more information about the requirements, criteria for evaluation, resolution, etc.
